Gymboree
Gymboree is a sub brand of The Children’s Place. Gymboree began with operating retail stores between the early 1970s and the later 2010s. It was founded by Joan Barnes.
Gymboree History
In early years the business launched the Gymboree clothing chain in 1986. Children’s outfits that coordinated were available at it’s outlets.
Newborn to size ten were among the sizes available. In the United States and Canada, as of January 2019, it ran 253 Crazy 8 stores, 11 Crazy 8 outlets, 147 Janie & Jack stores, 380 Gymboree stores, and 154 it’s outlets.
It’s store in Toronto’s Scarborough Town Centre in 2008.
The Crazy 8 started back in August of 2007. It was directly competitive with it’s for The Children’s Place and Old Navy, offering lower-priced clothing.
In November 2018, it followed rumors that it might declare bankruptcy for the second time in 14 months. It declared its intention to end the Crazy 8 brand after the Christmas season.
In June 2017, Gymboree announced that it was going to file for Chapter 11 bankruptcy protection.
The business filed for bankruptcy and emerged in September 2017.

It’s filed for Chapter 11 bankruptcy protection on January 17, 2019, which resulted to the closure of all Gymboree, Gymboree Outlet, and Crazy 8 physical locations.
Gap, Inc. purchased the company’s Janie & Jack brand.
Play & Music Centers
In July 2016, The Gymboree Corporation sold the Gymboree Play & Music business to Zeavion Holding, a private firm with a focus on the education and entertainment industries.
The Play & Music now offers parent-child play sessions for children aged 0 to 5, and has completely separated from the Gymboree Corporation.
By 2023, Play & Music will have more than 733 locations worldwide and be operating in more than 40 countries.
Sub Brand
The Children’s Place stated that Gymboree will become a digitally native sub brand with store-within-a-store locations at The Children’s Place stores after acquiring it’s on June 24, 2019.
It will launch in February 2020, it was announced on January 30, 2020. The Children’s Place will provide a “early access” program that will grant early access to the first 10,000 customers who register a space.
